The CHONJI TAEKWON-DO SCHOOL was founded in 1981 by Master Jorge Puerto, VII Dan black belt and his wife Sabunim. Giselle Urrego, V Dan black belt.

The school is currently the leader institution in Colombia in promotion of original Taekwon-Do.

We have two main schools, in Bogotá: Av. Suba and Defensa Civil Chicó. There are also two more schools members of our organization: one in Palmira, Valle, under the direction of Mr,. Froilan Quiroga, III Dan and the other one in  Chocontá, under the direction of a II Dan, Mr. Henry Gomez   There are some additional groups led by our instructors in some schools or universities. 

This is an official school of the  INTERNATIONAL TAEKWON-DO FEDERATION (ITF), under PLAQUE No. 5291. 

The ITF has its main headquarers in Vienna , Austria. The Federation governs and regulates the programs, grading and  and evolution of ITF Taekwon-Do in the World.

The school  can test and certify students from beginners up to IV Degree Black Belt. 

Master JORGE PUERTO  is the Director and  the Official Representative of the International Federation of Taekwon-Do in Colombia.

As an active member of the International Taekwon-Do Federation, we have attended several national and international activities::

  • World Camp, Denver, Colorado, USA, 1993, 28 students and instructors.

  • World Camp, Denver, Colorado, USA, 1995, 18 students and instructors.

  • Organization of an International Seminar with the Grand Master and Founder of Taekwon-Do, General Choi Hong Hi, IX Dan, Bogotá, Colombia, 1995. More than 100 Color and Black Belt students attended this  Seminar.

  • Participation with two of his students in the X ITF Taekwon-Do World Champ held in St. Petersburg, Rusia, 1997.

  •  5 National competitors and two judges participated in the XI World Taekwon-Do  Championship in Argentina, 1999.

  • Full male team and two female participants took part in the XII World Taekwon-Do  Championship held in Italy,2001.

  • Full male and female teams took part in the XIII World Taekwon-Do  Championship held in GREECE, 2003. We obtained the THIRD PLACE IN MALE TEAM PATTERN.

  • Organization of the I National Championship in the sport center of Los Andes University under the direction of Mr. Puerto. 

  • Outstanding participation in the next National Championships held in Bogotá, Barranquilla and Cartagena.

  • Participation with his students and instructors in different seminars in many countries: Miami and Odessa, USA, Nicaragua, Cuba, Guatemala, Venezuela, Brasil, Chile, Paraguay, Grecia, Canadá, Argentina, Perú, Tscheck Republic, Jamaica.

  • Participation with 11 children and teenagers of its students in the Northamerican Tournament held in Ottawa, Canadá, 1998, accomplishing 9 medals: 3 gold, 3 silver y 3 de bronze.

  • Participation in the 1998 ITF Taekwon-Do Panamerican Championship celebrated in Cabo Frio, Brasil, 1998, with 5 competitors, obtaining a bronze medal in sparring.

  • Organizer of V and VI National Championships held in Bogotá and Cali, in 2001 and 2003.

SPECIAL AWARDS

The school has received several awards because of its good performance at international level.

Grand Master Sereff , President of the United States Taekwon-Do Federation (USTF), granted Master Puerto the Taekwon-Do sculpture of loyalty,  during the seminar  in Miami in 1996.

In1998, the school was honored with a special Prize from the OTPA Organization (Original Taekwon-Do Promotion Association), because of its invaluable labor in the promotion, teaching and diffusion of the Original Taekwon-Do in our country. In that occasion only two schools in the world were granted this prize.

In September 1999, during XI ITF Taekwon-Do World Champ held in Argentina, Master Jorge H. Puerto was granted the "Outstanding Instructor" award, great honor received directly from General Choi.
